How to Join the Management Committee
Our legal status is that of “A Co-operative Housing Association” which means we are a “Fully Mutual Housing Association” as membership is open only to people who are our tenants.
As a tenant and member there are 3 ways to join our Management Committee:
Election at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is held in March each year. This is the main way to become a Committee Member. To stand for election you need to submit a completed nomination form to our office 7 days before the AGM takes place. You cannot nominate yourself and would need another member of Rosehill to do so. Your nomination will be presented at the AGM. In the event that there are more nominations than places on the Management Committee, the members present will vote on who is to be elected. The person(s) with the most votes will be elected onto the Management Committee.
Filling of Casual Vacancies, these can arise during the year (in between AGMs) when an existing Committee Member decides to step down. Such vacancies can be filled during the year from our membership. However, any member who fills a casual vacancy must then stand for election at the next AGM.
If you are interested in joining the Management Committee before the next AGM is due, please contact our Director, Geri Mogan, on 0141 881 0595 to see if there are any casual vacancies available.
Co-opted, the Management Committee can co-opt any person onto the Committee it thinks is suitable to be a Committee Member. The person does not have to be a Member of Rosehill. The Management Committee will typically use Co-optees to bring people onto the Committee who have specific skills and knowledge that would contribute to the business of Rosehill. No more than one third of the Management Committee can be made up of Co-optees.
If you are thinking about becoming a Committee Member please see our Application Pack. In this pack you will find a Committee Member’s Role Description, a list of skills that would be of benefit to Rosehill, the eligibility criteria for becoming a Committee Member (as set out in Rosehill’s rules), our Data Protection Policy and an application form. Please ensure you carefully read through the eligibility for Committee; if any of the situations listed apply to you then you are not eligible to join the Management Committee. If you need any clarity on the eligibility criteria or wish to discuss this further, please phone our Director, Geri Mogan on 0141 881 0595.
